How are We?

Raksirang Development Organization operates in the north-western part of Makwanpur district, covering Raksirang, Kankda, Khairang, and Sarikhet in the Raksirang Rural Municipality. The area is home to various tribal communities such as Tamang, Chepang, Magar, Dalit, Newar, and others. The region primarily relies on traditional agriculture, with limited educational and human development opportunities. RDO was established in 2077 (2020 AD) to address the low levels of education and awareness, particularly in combating child marriage. It has recently launched Raksirang FM 94.9 MHz, a community radio to reach remote settlements and raise local concerns.

Raksirang Rural Municipality was formed by combining the former villages of Raksirang, Kankda, Khairang, and Sarikhet. The population is 25,996 (National Census, 2078) and covers an area of 226.7 square kilometers with a population density of 135.72 per square kilometer. To the east is Hetauda sub-metropolitan municipality and Kailash rural municipality, and to the west is Rapti municipality of Chitwan district.
